Fiber

Kym Nicolas raised her two Angora goats, Maggie, who died of old age, and Belle since they were just babies. She had a "foster" goat, Goatie, to keep Belle company. Sweet Goatie died 12/13/2005. Nicolas uses their mohair to create pure fiber sweaters, socks, hats, mittens, scarves, blankets and rugs.

Wearing one of Nicolas' sweaters is like walking around surrounded by a painting. She spins, dyes, and crochets all the fiber herself and creates gorgeous custom pieces of artwork that are fully functional.

"As of 2007 all three of my sweet goats, Maggie, Goatie, and Bell have died tender deaths and passed on to Grazeland. I miss my friends, my bearer’s of luminous thread. I have a small amount of luscious mohair left and I am hoarding it sentimentally for myself and my family. So, I am not creating fiber pieces intended to leave home.

I am currently focusing my attention on pottery and stonework."
